Who are Ellie’s events for?

Both the weekly classes and workshops are for adults (18+).

Are the classes arranged by level?

No, the classes are mixed level. Everyone works at their own pace on their own project.

Are classes suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. You can learn to sew from scratch in our weekly classes, especially if you want to go beyond what’s covered in the Learn to Sew workshop.

How long are the weekly classes?

Weekly classes run for 2 hours, once a week.

​

How long is a course?

Courses run over 6 weeks. Although this is the most popular option, you can also join for a 3-week block. All weeks must be consecutive.

What can I work on in the weekly classes?

Whether you’re a complete beginner or building on your skills, you can work on clothing, accessories, alterations, repairs, or upcycling projects. It’s a flexible class designed to suit your goals.

What do I need to bring to weekly classes?

You’ll need to bring your own sewing machine and materials for your project. If you don’t have a machine, you can rent one (subject to availability).

How much is it to rent a machine?

Machine rental is €30 for a 6-week course and €10 for a workshop.

​

What are the workshops about?

Workshops are 3–4 hour sessions focused on a specific theme. They’re ideal if you want to learn something new without committing to a full course.

 

Can complete beginners attend workshops?

If you’re brand new to sewing or want a refresher, the Learn to Sew workshop is the best place to start. Once you’ve completed it, you can join other workshops marked “basic skills required.”

What does “basic skills required” mean?

It means you should be able to thread your machine and sew a few straight lines with confidence. I’ll always help if you get stuck, but we don’t cover the basics in these sessions. If you’re unsure, I recommend starting with the Learn to Sew workshop so you can enjoy the class fully.

Where do your events take place?

Workshops and most weekly classes take place at Taney Parish Centre, Dundrum, D14AX78. We also run a morning class at Iona Parish Centre, Knocklyon, D16T299

Is there free parking?

Yes, there is free parking available at both centres.
